Man taken to hospital after shooting in downtown Edmonton

EDMONTON—A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an altercation between several men erupted in gunfire late Monday night in downtown Edmonton, police say.
According to a release, at 10:45 p.m., the Downtown division beat officers “heard what they believed to be gunfire in the area of 104 Street and 100 Avenue.”
Witnesses told StarMetro they heard six gunshots around the vicinity of the Red Arrow bus station.
Police arrived to find an injured 22-year-old man, who was treated and transported to hospital.
The release states that the incident was not random and they are searching for the shooters.

At this point “public safety is not believed to be at risk.”
In an email Red Arrow vice-president Dean Wright wrote: “We are co-operating with authorities and the investigation is ongoing.”
